Certificate Course
Statement of Attendance
The School of Modern Languages and Cultures will issue a Statement of Attendance to students who maintain a course attendance record of 80% or above over all three terms.
Statement of Proficiency
Students who have completed an intermediate level course (240 hours of tuition) may apply to sit for the oral examination held at the end of the course. Students scoring a pass in this examination will be awarded a Statement of Proficiency in the language concerned. All candidates will be charged an examination fee.
Certificate
Students who have completed an advanced level course (360 hours of tuition) may apply to sit for the examination (oral and written) held at the end of the course. Students scoring a pass in this examination will be awarded a Certificate in the language concerned. All candidates will be charged an examination fee.
Although no formal academic credit is given, public course students who have been awarded Certificates will have attained a proficiency level comparable to that of full-time HKU students who have completed the School of Modern Languages and Cultures’ Certificate Programme.
